Flee Project s'invite chez Bongo Joe Records pour présenter son premier opus intitulé "Benga Music - A signature genre from Kenya".

Musique emblématique Kenyane des années 1970, le Benga est l'objet de cette premiere release de FLEE qui s'articule en un magazine sérigraphié recueillant des articles de penseurs, artistes et journalistes Kenyans ainsi qu'en une compilation vinyle comprenant des morceaux originaux et des edits de Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Africaine 808 et Nik Weston. D.O. Misiani, Colella Mazee, Migori Superstars, Gabriel Omolo. Autant de noms encore confidentiels à l’échelle internationale qui ont pourtant écrit une des plus belles pages de l’histoire musicale de leur pays : le Kenya. Cette page, c’est le benga qui la remplit. Signifiant littéralement « belle chose » en langue Luo, le benga tire ses racines de la musique cubaine et de la rumba congolaise et se développa dans toute l’Afrique de l’Est aux alentours des années 1970 jusqu’à devenir l’hymne fédérateur de toutes les tribus kenyanes. C’est à ce genre complexe et à ses multiples facettes qu’est dédié le premier opus de FLEE intitulé Benga Music A Signature Genre From Kenya. À son exploration, sa documentation, avec pour enjeu de taille de présenter ce genre et ses dimensions sociopolitiques. FLEE présentera ce premier numéro a travers un talk axé sur les nouveaux circuits de distribution musicaux a l'échelle globale et a travers la mise en lumiere du mouvement Benga a l'aide d'une session d'ecoute. Pour l'occasion, Vincent Privat sera également de la partie pour passer des disques et quelques copies de la release seront disponibles (ainsi que quelques bieres). www.fleeproject.com www.soundcloud.com/fleeproject
